Perkins-Elmer 2380 Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

A Perkins Elmer 2380 spectrophotometer is used for atomic absorption and flame emission determination of elemental concentrations in solutions down to the low ppm level. Atomic absorption techniques are restricted to cations for which elemental lamps are available (current library of 25 lamps).

The electronic energy level spacings for atoms are very specific for the element. As a result, the absorption of quantized energy from a monochromatic light beam of the appropriate wavelength can give selective information about the identity and amount of elements (normally metals) in a sample.

Multiple Element Lamps: Cr, Co, Cu, Mn, Ni Cr, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Al, Ca, Cu, Fe, Mg, Si, Zn, Al, Ca, Mg, Ne, Na, K

Single Element Lamps: Al, Ag, As, A,u Bi, Ca, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, In, Ni, Pb, Tb, U, V, Zn
