Graduate Admissions
We welcome applications from well-qualified students who are interested in pursuing advanced degrees in materials science
and engineering. Incoming graduate students tend to have diverse backgrounds; in a first-year graduate class, about half
have undergraduate degrees in materials science whereas many others have completed degrees in other disciplines such as
math, physics, chemistry, or electrical engineering. We also have a distinguished group of
faculty
who do research n a wide range of fields. If you want more information about the MSE program at The University of Arizona,
please read about our
degree programs that we offer.
Domestic Applicants
Domestic applicants are required to have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The deadline to apply is June 1 for the fall semester and
October 1 for the spring semester.
Application materials
are available online, or you may request that we send you a packet through the mail. Included with our application
packet is an application for graduate assistantship. This is also available
online.
International Applicants
International applicants who do not speak English as a primary language must score at least 550 on the TOEFL test. In order
to begin the application process to our department from outside the US, you must submit the
preliminary application which can be found online. Selected students will then receive a reply via email containing
